Finally found a feather pillow!!! I was finally able to get done sleep last night!
We started our day out feeding the ducks living at the motel we stayed at in Hershey then we were off to see the Chocolate Factory! But again we were somehow stuck in the movie Vacation because as we drove up to the entrance there was a sign that said, "sorry, chocolate world closed today due to power failure."
AHHHHHHH! Not again?!
Plan B?
Head to Gettysburg!
It was a great drive, took lots if pictures. When we finally got there we could not find parking so 4 "additional parking lots" later we were golden and were able to find a spot.
First stop, 20 min. movie to explain things, next it was what they called a Cyclorama. It's actually a panarama of a painting done in the 18 hundreds after the war of the war in Gettysburg. A team of artists did it in a year, quite the accomplishment if you were you to see this thing! It went completely around the room 360*. A good 35 to 40 feet high if not bigger. Complete with sound and lights that actually made you feel as if you were back in time standing on the battlefield. Truly amazing.
Next up was the museum, the book store and last but not least the actual battlefield itsself. Very sobering!
Now. . . we're on our way through the mountains to Pittsburg for the night. Of course the mountains are not like the Rockys, these iare smaller and lower in elevation but none the less, mountains, with drop offs, ear popping and the vehicle sounding like it just wants it's garage.
It's been a beautiful drive but I'm still nursing a headache that feels more like a pulled muscle, maybe it is. We've been driving into the setting sun so that doesn't help, nor do the yellow signs saying "Aggressive Drivers High Crash Area'. Umm what? Aggressive drivers? They have their own sign? Wow!
Ahhhh sooo close! :) My sister in law lives in Hershey :) We try to visit often & LOVE Chocolate World!! Sorry it was closed! BOO!
ReplyDeleteLol.... I just noticed two very distinct things.... It's 2012 not 2009 AND it's not September 18th yet... Sometimes I need to open BOTH my eyes when I read!
